Why La Paz?
The Sea of Cortez offers conditions that are hard to find anywhere else. Protected bays, predictable afternoon thermals, and water warm enough to swim in eight months of the year. The cruising ground between La Paz and Isla San Francisco covers some of the most spectacular sailing in North America — close-hauled passages, overnight anchorages, and wildlife encounters that most sailors chase for a lifetime.
It’s also forgiving for beginners. The anchorages are well-protected. The weather is consistent. You can make real mistakes in a safe environment and learn from them without consequences.
What the Course Actually Looks Like
MOS runs immersive on-water training through the NauticEd Bareboat Charter Master curriculum. You’re not in a classroom. You’re on the boat from day one.
Students consistently describe the same arc. You arrive uncertain. By the end of the week, you’re taking the helm, making docking decisions, calling the anchor, reading the wind. The course covers everything you need to bareboat charter independently — sail trim, anchoring, docking under real conditions, weather reading, passage planning, and navigation. Getting Certified in La Paz
The NauticEd Bareboat Charter Master program combines online theory you complete before you arrive with on-water time in the Sea of Cortez. By the time you leave La Paz, you’ll have the certification and the confidence to book your first bareboat charter anywhere in the world.
