HOW I TEACH

I teach in real conditions. The environment shapes every lesson.
You learn through simple steps, steady practice, and time to understand each skill without pressure.

What my teaching style looks like:
• Calm instruction
• Clear explanations
• Steady pacing
• Space to make mistakes safely
• Real scenarios, not simulations
• Support before, during, and after your training

My focus is seamanship — awareness, preparation, and confident reactions.

MOS is an official NauticEd Affiliate School, which means your online learning, practical training, and licensing all connect into one continuous path.
Your progress — from free lessons to advanced certification — is recognized and supported every step of the way.

ABOUT CAPTAIN MIKE

WHY I TEACH

I teach because I believe people learn best when they feel supported and understood.
Most people already have the ability. They just need someone steady beside them.

Seeing that confidence grow is why I do this work.

MY BACKGROUND

• ASA Instructor of the Year
• Founder of My Own Sailboat
• Guide in the Sea of Cortez & Beautiful BC
• Partnered with global charter fleets in 42+ countries
• Experience with real conditions across multiple regions

I also work with NauticEd, whose online courses support your training.
Through NauticEd, you complete the Bareboat Master, Catamaran Endorsement, and — if you choose — the SLC (International Sailing License).
My role is guiding you through the practical skills that bring everything together on the water.

My path has been shaped by the environment and by the people who taught me.
Today, I carry those same values forward — steady, clear, and supportive.

A NOTE ON HERITAGE

I am a member of the Killer Whale Clan.
It’s a quiet part of who I am — presence, patience, and responsibility to community.
Those values guide the way I teach and support every person I work with.

WHERE I TEACH

Sea of Cortez
Calm, marine-rich, and ideal for seamanship training.

Beautiful BC
Quiet inlets, steady conditions, and a coastline worth exploring.

MY ROLE AS YOUR SECOND CAPTAIN

A lot of people feel alone planning a trip or learning something new on the water.
My role is simple: be alongside you from start to finish.

Whether you’re training, planning a charter, or taking your next step — you’re supported.
